This is the mission of Kokayi Noksakhere, a visionary mental health advocate, historian, activist, and author, who is on a daring journey across the United States to spark an anti-racism movement among European Americans. His goal? To create Racial Trauma Centers—safe spaces where individuals can unpack and heal from the ancestral and cultural trauma that has shaped their lives and communities.

Why This Matters

Kokayi is traveling to sundown towns—places steeped in a history of racial violence and exclusion—to engage European Americans in conversations about their own racial trauma. This is not about blame or shame; it’s about understanding, healing, and breaking the cycle of harm.

By addressing the pain and fear that fuel racism, Kokayi believes we can build bridges of empathy and solidarity. But this work is not easy. It’s emotionally taxing, physically demanding, and often dangerous. Yet, Kokayi is committed to this grassroots effort because he knows that true change begins with honest dialogue and healing.
